Simple life

An essay by Sapto Pamungkas

People might know Balikpapan as a mining city, or an oil city, and a lot of people didn’t realized that there are Bear Land in Balikpapan. Well, it’s not actually a Bear Land. The real name is KWPLH, it stand for Kawasan Wisata Pendidikan dan Lingkungan Hidup, but it’s too long and not an easy name to spell. That’s why I rather called it as a Bear Land.
About two weeks ago before new year, me and my family went there. My three years old son was very excited, he still talked about it days after. It was the first time he saw a bear.
We were arrived at 10 o’clock, right before feeding time. We saw at least 5 bears, walked around the fence to get the fruits. They ate bananas, water melon, papaya etc.
We followed them while they were hunting for fruits. There are wood bridge near the fence so we could easily watched and took some pictures.

2018 was a great year for us. God blessed us a lot and we are grateful for that. Of course there are always somethings, things that hasn’t come true… wishes, hopes, dreams.
I’m not a saint but I believe that God have His own way.  His purposes to our lifes remain mysterious and kind, but still interesting.
There were some bad decision that I’ve  made, and some are gladden. But that’s life. I Have to deal with it. If I could go back in time, there’s nothing that I would fixed, nothing at all. No regret, no nothing.

Here comes 2019. My heart full of hopes and wishes. But that also mean that  I’m getting older and (should be) wiser. My resolution for this year is to be able to repair our house (we had a plan to make our bed room bigger), get a new car and  a new motorcylce. Is that too much?

PAST SIMPLE TENSE

Examples:
  • You met Eka.
  • Did you meet Eka?
  • You did not meet Eka.
USE 1 Completed Action in the Past

We use the Simple Past to express the idea that an action or an activity started and ended at a specific time in the past. Sometimes, the speaker may not actually mention the specific time, but they do have one specific time in mind.
Examples:
  • watched a movie this morning.
  • didn't go to the market yesterday.
  • Last year, I went to Japan.
  • Last year, I didn't travel to Korea.

Ok, now let’s talk about the pattern. Basically, in order to use tenses properly, ones must know the structure of the sentence.  A sentence consists of subject, predicate, object and complement. At least, a Sentence must have a subject and a predicate to be called a sentence. The predicate which we use will determine the kind of tenses. The predicate itself must be a Verb.
(+) Positive sentence :
-           Subject + Predicate
          Predicate : verb 2
          Predicate : to be (was/were)
Note : To be is used as a predicate when there is no verb
E.g.:
-           I saw a movie yesterday
-           Last year, Daniel was here
(-)  Negative sentence
-           Subject + to be (was/were) + not + nonverbal phrase.
-           Subject + did not + Verb I + Object/complement
E.g.:
-           I did not see him yesterday
-           She was not here yesterday
 ( ? ) Interrogative sentence:
-           Did + Subject + Verb I + Object/Complement?
-   was/were + subject + nonverbal phrase?
E.g.:
-           Did you play football yesterday?
-           were you at my house?
